Ashley Whillans is a PhD student in Social Psychology and a Public Scholar at the University of British Columbia where she studies time, money, and happiness. Ashley is passionate about putting science to work to solve real-world problems and frequently conducts research with companies, organizations, and the government. In one line of research, Ashley examines factors that promote charitable giving. She conducts research with Peter Singer's charity The Life You Can Save, where she was recently elected as an advisory board member. She is a Visiting Consultant with Chicago-based firm The Greatest Good, where she advises large companies on how to encourage corporate philanthropy. She is also working with the Centre for Advancement & Support of Education, and several university development offices to assist fundraising professionals in designing empirically-supported campaigns.
