Kok Ping Soon is Deputy Secretary (Development) in the Ministry of Manpower (MOM). MOM seeks to develop a productive workforce and progressive workplaces, for Singaporeans to have better jobs and a secure retirement. Ping Soon oversees the Corporate Services Group and Occupational Safety & Health Division.
Prior to his current appointment, Ping Soon was Senior Director, National Security Co-ordination Centre (NSCC) within the National Security Co-ordination Secretariat in the Prime Minister’s Office. The Centre strengthens coordination and collaboration across Government, by leading and facilitating programs that support Singapore’s security, resilience and preparedness against strategic threats.
Ping Soon also held various positions in the Ministry of Trade & Industry, Ministry of Manpower, Singapore Tourism Board and Economic Development Board. He spent 6 years in Cambridge, Massachusetts and San Francisco, California with the Economic Development Board and Contact Singapore.
Ping Soon serves on the Board of the National Library Board and the Human Capital Leadership Institute. He is also a District Councilor in the North West Community Development Council.
Ping Soon is a graduate of the National University of Singapore where he majored in Economics. He attended the Stanford Executive Program by the Stanford Graduate School of Business and was also awarded the Lien Ying Chow Legacy Fellowship to pursue a research project in China. He is married with 2 daughters.
